The Omelet House either on Maryland and University Rd. or Charleston and Rancho. The restaurant feels like an old mom n pop store, with random knick knacks displayed around the restaurant. Its like you've walked into an antique or thrift store but with fantastic food. They've got THE BEST omelets ever! and a bunch of other things too. Definitely my favorite place to go to every Sunday.

Magical Empire was below Ceasars yet closed over 4 years in the past. I observed yet another submit a pair of "secret" eating place there yet to my wisdom it does not exist. there's a eating place referred to as Hugo's Cellar it is interior the basement of the 4 Queens on line casino, it incredibly is an previous college steakhouse that has spectacular steaks and that they convey about a cart to you to make your salads tableside. The 4 Queens is located interior the downtown section. wish this suggestion facilitates!

my sister and i frequently have lunch at these "mom and pop" restuarants. it depends what kind of food you like.

if mediterranean try "hedari's" on sahara/buffalo.

for breakfast try "cracked egg" on cheyenne/buffalo.

asian food..anywhere in chinatown...

italian...i know buca di beppo is not exactly mom and pop but i really like the family atmosphere there.

most of the restuarants in hotels are not bad...mostly opened by top chefs.

you can also go to town square and they have a tuscanny restaurant ...they were really good and it is in an outdoor shopping area.that place is by far my favorite outdoor shopping in vegas.not too many ppl go there yet since not all the stores are open and they have movie theatre, book store, etc.

honestly though many restuarants open and close so the few i mentioned are those that stayed open. hedari's is good ...small , in the wrong location... i'm praying they never close.

When it comes to cheapo restaurant recommendations, the best site is www.lasvegasadvisor.com. You will find write-ups of the Golden Gate shrimp cocktail, Ellis Island off-menu steak special, etc.

My favorite is the Ellis Island special. The one at the Gold Coast is not as good as it used to be though. For Chinese, if you can find it (it is disguised as the Banna Leaf) Dong Ting has very good but very hot food.
Linda in Lancaster & lovin it!

Go out to Boulder City and go to The Coffee Cup. It was on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." Also there is the "Coffee Pub." Go to this link for more information on it:
